Image Of The Month - February 2015

There's a lot to  say about this month's image. I captured this image of some curious cows during a fall photo shoot at the Lemax Farm in Hartland Vermont. The photo shoot was part of a campaign to restore some of the historic buildings on the farm, that have fallen into disrepair and are now in need of some costly care and attention. The farm's largest barn was actually featured in the iconic library of photographs depicting American rural life in the 1930s and 1940s, commissioned by the Farm Service Administration during that era.

The Campaign has gotten off to a promising start, raising about $60,000 to have the funds it needs on hand to qualify for a preservation grant from the State of Vermont. The total cost of the repairs needed will ultimately be North of $160,000, so the campaign has now entered a second phase, launching its own Kickstarter Project to raise the additional funds that will be needed to make up the shortfall so that the campaign can solicit bids on the restoration work from local contractors.

I was honored to be asked to be a part of this campaign to save this historic Vermont landmark and also to be a backer of the Kickstarter project. So if like me, you are a huge fan of all things New England, please take a few minutes to watch the campaign's video and to learn the story of the effort to restore these historic farm buildings - and even, to put your hand in your pocket and contribute a few dollars to a very worthy New England cause.

Thank You.
