Image Of The Month - May 2015
Every year for July 4th, we make our annual family pilgrimage to the July 4th parade in Hartland, the little Vermont town where my wife was raised. Hartland is a one of those wonderful small towns with a big heart. Every year on Independence Day, it seems like the population of the town doubles as its one main street is crowded with people who come from all around the area for its July 4th parade.
Everybody participates, from the local volunteer fire service driving a massive fire tender to the local resident who just wants to seize his annual 15 minutes of fame and the opportunity to drive his John Deere lawn mower down the main street without being arrested for it.
I captured this image as a cowboy on his horse passed me by. I love that the house in background is flying the stars and stripes - creating the nice juxtaposition of the cowboy and the flag which gives this photograph its uniquely American vibe.
